Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District covers approximately 50 square miles of Central Oregon within the triangle between Bend, Redmond and Sisters. Serving a population of approximately 3500, the Fire District provides fire suppression, fire investigation, fire code enforcement, fire prevention, emergency medical services and various volunteer programs including address sign installations and Adopt A Highway Clean up for Hwy 20. 

Two Fire Stations, strategically located, provide a five mile or less response to any home in the District. Apparatus includes 2 type I engines, 1 type 2 Interface engine / rescue. 3 water tenders, 3 light brush / first response units, and 2 command vehicles. With a consistent and reliable roster of 22-24 members, quick and adequate response to any part of the District is achievable. The Fire Chief and the Training Officer / Volunteer Coordinator are the only members of the District who are not volunteers.

Deschutes County maintains an enhanced 9-1-1 dispatch center providing up to date emergency call capability to notify the District of situations. In addition, the District provides and receives mutual assistance from all Central Oregon fire agencies when needed. 

The Fire District was formed in 1963 when several community members lost their homes to fire. The original first response vehicle was a water tank on a trailer. The first volunteer to arrive with a pickup towed the trailer to the scene of the fire.

All members receive accredited training at all levels and utilize some of the latest personal protective equipment available to ensure their safety. In addition to training on a weekly basis, the entire membership enjoys a variety of social events and activities during the calendar year.
